Viareggio is also an active industrial center and known around the world for its shipyard, that brags each year of the arrival of the most noted and wealthy ship-owners and international jet-setters. Other noteworthy events are the Premio Letterario di Vareggio (Literary Award), the Pucciniano Festival and the youngest, but in no way less fascinating, the Gaber Festival in August.
